The first thing I can say about TechSpec is that their customer service is outstanding. From the time of order to the time at my door was only a day. For me, once I order something, I want it ASAP. TecSpec delivered. They arrived in a package that made it easy to store spare sets on a hanger above my workbench. |
The Gripster Tank Grips were very easy to install. I used windex to clean and prep the area for the grips to be installed. Once cleaned, I test fit the grips to find the location that worked correctly. It was a cold morning, so I borrowed my wife's blowdryer (don't tell her) to heat the area on the bike. Once up to temp, I pealed on corner of the grip back about two inches. I then placed the other corner where I wanted the grip to align. I secured the exposed part to the bike and slowly pealed back the backing on the grip. After the backing was off, I worked the grip onto the bike starting from the end that was already secured to the bike. The grip fit perfect and stuck like crazy. I then placed the other side in the same manner. The only difference was it took some time to get the grip to perfectly align with the one on the other side. By only sticking a small portion at the beginning of placement, I was able to reposition the grip to get it aligned close to perfect. I have since used the grips at a track day and a full race weekend. The grips were awesome and did not move a bit. On a previous bike, I had another brand of grips installed. I ultimately was very frustrated with them and ended up removing them because every time the temperature got hot in the summer, the grips would not stay in place. With the TechSpec Gripster Tank Grips, I felt much more comfortable hanging off the bike than without them. They also look great on the bike.
I had never used a chin guard and was excited to test one out. The prep was the same as with the tank grips. I placed the chin guard where my chin naturally rested while in a full tuck position. Once again, the fitment was perfect. The first race weekend was at Buttonwillow Raceway, which is known for being an extremely bumpy track. I was happen to have the chin guard when I felt my chin touch it a few times. It made me remember last year when I felt my helmet hit my tank. I didn't have the pad at that time and wasn't thrilled about my new helmet, my chin, and my new paint job all coming together at the same time. Thumbs up to TechSpec for putting out a quality product.
